Kate King
For over 12 years Kate King has developed organisations, teams and individuals in the private
and public sectors. She has held senior positions in learning and executive development in
companies including Selfridges, Chelsea and Westminster Healthcare, the University of
Wolverhampton and Sheffield Hallam University. Latterly she was Assistant Vice President of
Executive Development at TK Maxx, and Group Head of Learning and Development with Land
Securities.
Kate has a real passion for creating workplaces where people are engaged and inspired to grow.
Her expertise includes leadership and management development, particularly working with senior
people to help them to be effective in leading and coaching their teams.
Recent projects include working with the Board of Selfridges to enable the business to be more
innovative, and transforming Selfridges’ Head Office and Stores into a coaching culture. At TK
Maxx, Kate designed and facilitated a talent development programme for future Heads of Buying.
She also developed a coaching package for newly recruited senior leaders to support them in
making an impact in the crucial first 90 days.
Kate holds an MSc in People and Organisational Development and Chartered Membership of the
CIPD.
Kate is a member of the Advisory Panel to the CIPD Vice President of Learning and
Development. She is on the Editorial Board of ‘Learning and Development’ magazine and has
spoken on development at many conferences and events, including the CIPD Conference at
Harrogate. Her work at Selfridges was the cover feature of the launch edition of ‘Learning and
Development’ magazine in 2004.
Kate is an accredited trainer, certified to deliver Writing Dynamics® and is excited about the
practical impact this programme has on delegates’ ability to communicate powerfully at work.
